MISSION MOMENT
For over 75 years, the church and PWS&D have dedicated themselves to helping the most marginalized people around the world. Through partnerships with our global partners and ecumenical networks and coalitions, we are helping create change within our shared global community. Together, we are working to restore dignity, ease suffering, and empower communities to thrive through cooperation. Guided by our faith, we are called to stand beside those we serve—advocating for equality, sustainability, human dignity, peace and care for God’s creation. Together, we are working toward a future that is sustainable, compassionate, and just.

What is an elder?
Elders (also called “ruling elders”) play a key role in the life of the congregation. Through membership on Session, they work closely with the minister (also called the “teaching elder”) in
• supervision and oversight of the congregation
• membership and pastoral care
• worship, including participation in the sacraments
• Christian education
• stewardship and mission
• relating to presbytery, synod and General Assembly.
Most decisions about the life and work of the congregation are made by Session. With the minister, who acts as the moderator of Session, elders work as leaders—leading the congregation in its fellowship (its ministry to one another) and in its mission (its ministry to the world).   In Clyde River our current elders are: Fred Beer, Joanne Bowers, Arthur Campbell, Paula Cox, Sandra Gass, Cathy Livingston, Ruth MacPhail, Kent MacPhee, Carolyn Wood.
